Rafters to begin the season at Witter Field. Packers release schedule. Softball and Baseball playoffs are beginning.

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WFHR / WIRI) – Monday, May 25 will mark the return of the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters as they compete in the Northwoods League at Witter Field this summer. Rapids will take on Green Bay at 6:05pm with postgame fireworks. 

The Rafters will play a 70-game regular season, facing teams from Wausau, Madison, La Crosse, Green Bay, Fond du Lac, Lakeshore (Mequon, WI), Kalamazoo, MI, Battle Creek, MI, and Duluth, MN.

Packers release season

On Thursday, May 14, the NFL announced the season schedule dates for all 32 teams. The Packers will be featured in six prime-time games including Thanksgiving Eve and Christmas Day.

They will have two games on Thursday, two on Sunday night, one Monday night game, one on a Wednesday, and another on a Friday.The full schedule can be found on www.packers.com.

Playoff matchups announced

The WIAA has begun to announce the playoff brackets for spring sports and several local teams will be playing at home early.

Softball

In Softball in Division 5, Port Edwards is a No. 8 seed and hosts No. 9 Reedsville on Thursday, May 21 at Ripple Creek Park at 5 p.m.

Assumption was seeded fourth and will host five-seeded Hilbert on Tuesday, May 26 at Robinson Park at 4:30 p.m.

In Division 3, Nekoosa is seeded fourth and will host five-seed, Oconto on May 26 at Nekoosa High School at 4:30 p.m.

Wisconsin Rapids was seeded tenth and will play at No. 7 De Pere in Division 1.

Baseball

In baseball, Assumption has a home game in Division 4 as the sixth seed. They’ll host No. 11-seeded Gresham Community on Thursday, May 28 at 4:30 p.m. at Witter Field.

Port Edwards is seeded tenth and will play at No. 7 Tigerton.

In Division 3, Nekoosa was seeded 13th and will play at No. 4 Amherst on May 28.

Wisconsin Rapids will have its seed announced this coming weekend.

Girls Soccer brackets will also be announced this coming weekend.
