Q:Who owns WIRI?
WIRI is owned by Civic Media, a statewide radio network dedicated to hometown radio. Civic Media acquired WIRI and sister station WFHR on August 1, 2022, and has been serving Wisconsin Rapids with quality local programming ever since.
Q:When did WIRI start playing country music?
WIRI flipped to country music on June 23, 2021, becoming “Country Legends 24/7” and has been a hometown favorite ever since, playing country favorites and classics for the Wisconsin Rapids community.
Q:What area does WIRI serve?
WIRI serves Wisconsin Rapids and the Central Wisconsin area. The station is licensed to Nekoosa, Wisconsin, and reaches listeners throughout the region with country music and local information.
Q:Is WIRI related to WFHR?
Yes! WIRI and WFHR (97.5 FM / 1320 AM “Locally Grown Radio”) are sister stations owned by Civic Media and operate from the same studios at 1690 2nd Ave S in Wisconsin Rapids. While WIRI plays country music, WFHR features locally grown programming with a variety format. Together, we’ve been serving Wisconsin Rapids for decades.

The station that is now WIRI has been serving the Wisconsin Rapids area since 2003. WIRI became a sibling station to WFHR in 2008. Together with WFHR’s legacy that dates back decades, we’re proud to continue serving our community with quality programming.
