WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WFHR / WIRI) – On Friday, May 1, five Wisconsin Rapids seniors declared their intentions of competing in athletics at the next level.
Francis and Silas Cronkrite will be playing baseball as they go to NJCAA Division II, College of Lake County, in Grayslake, Illinois.
Ethan Dillingham will also be going on to play baseball as he will be going to NJCAA Division III Western Technical College in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Layla Patraw plans on continuing her softball career as she will move on to NCAA Division III St. Mary’s University of Minnesota.
Baylee Williams will be playing softball and will be moving on to play at NCAA Division III Augsburg University- Minneapolis.

Playoff seeding on horizon
Despite beginning spring sports just over a month ago, the playoffs are looming on the horizon. Playoff seeding meetings are beginning over the next couple weeks.
The seeding meetings for softball will run from May 13-20 with Division 2-5 between 13th -17th. Division 1 will be May 17-20.
Baseball will be held May 17-26 with Division 2-4 on May 17-20 and Division 1 over May 23-26.
Girls Soccer will happen on May 24.
Second rounds of professional playoffs underway
The NBA and NHL have officially started the second round of the playoffs in their respective leagues.
In the NBA, the Oklahoma City Thunder are taking on the Los Angeles Lakers. The San Antonio Spurs are facing the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference. The Detroit Pistons face the Cleveland Cavaliers with the New York Knicks clashing with the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference.
For the NHL, the Colorado Avalanche are taking on the Minnesota Wild with the Las Vegas Golden Knights playing the Anaheim Ducks in the Western Conference.
In the Eastern Conference the Buffalo Sabres are playing the Montreal Canadiens. The Carolina Hurricanes are taking on the Philadelphia Flyers.
