Waldvogel, Moua power Wausau West to 42-21 win over Superior, Newman Catholic shuts out Florence plus other scores on night 1 of the 2025 season

WAUSAU, Wis (WXCO) – The Wausau West High School football team used a powerful one-two punch on the ground from Miles Waldvogel and Taeden Moua to roll past Superior 42-21 on a Thursday night game heard on 98.9 WXCO.

Waldvogel carried the ball 11 times for 129 yards and a touchdown, while Moua added 10 carries for 110 yards and three scores as the Warriors open their season with a win. Quarterback Joe Graveen was also very effective, as he hit on 11 of 14 passes for 141 yards and 2 TD’s. Shea Jones caught three passes 57 yards and a touchdown. Wausau West will return to action next Thursday, Aug. 28 at Hudson. 6:35 p.m. airtime, 7 p.m. kickoff live on 98.9 WXCO, and the game can be listened to online at wxco.fm, on mobile devices by searching WXCO, and on the Civic Media app.

Also, in a game heard on 98.9 WXCO, the Newman Catholic Cardinals used a very stingy defense and a solid offense to defeat Florence 33-0 on the Bobcats’ home field. Next Friday, Aug. 29, Newman will inaugurate the renovated Balliet Field vs. Wild Rose. It will be the first game under the lights and on the new artificial turf. Next Friday’s game can be heard live on 98.9 WXCO, wxco.fm, mobile devices by searching WXCO and on the Civic Media app starting with the pregame at 6:35 p.m. and kickoff at 7 p.m.
