WAUSAU, Wis (WXCO) – One of the most successful hockey programs in Wisconsin has a new head coach.
Wausau West has named Travis Brown the new head coach of the Warriors. Brown is a Wausau West alumnus who played under coach Pete Susens and has served as an assistant coach under B.J. Brandt for 11 seasons. Brandt left the position after being named the new Athletic Director at West last month.
The Brown family has deep roots in the West hockey program history as Travis’ great uncle Jim was the first head coach of the Warriors in the early 1970’s and his father Steve served on the coaching staff for 26 years as well.

Chad Holmes is a central Wisconsin native who has covered news, sports and the stories and people you care about at WXCO for more than 20 years.
