In a recent edition of Mid-Day Magazine Senator Patrick Testin discussed some updates, and information for his constituents.
The interview opened with a discussion about a presentation Senator Testin gave to new legislators in Madison. Testin spoke of the importance of mentoring newer legislators to help them succeed for their constituents. Then the two also took time to emphasize the importance of new ideas and people as well. According to Testin there are “just shy of 40” newly elected legislators this year, and it’s so exciting to have that many incoming freshmen.
Then the conversation led to all of the committees Senator Patrick Testin was appointed to for the coming year. Senator Testin is very excited about the work he has coming up with these committee appointments. Testin is most notably excited about getting work done on the Budget.
Senator Testin was named the Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Revenue. Testin took a few moments to discuss the ways in which he plans to advocate for rural agriculture during the interview.
He was also named Vice-Chair of the Joint Finance Committee, and the Senate Committee on Health. Testin took time to specifically discuss both the importance of, and the changes needed on Health reform.
He is the Co-Chair of the Joint Survey Committee on Tax Exemptions. Malouf asked Senator Patrick Testin what the Survey Committee on Tax Exemptions does, and is for. The discussion led to a statement that for many of these appointments the legislator is chosen for one committee that works alongside another committee they are also on, and this is one of those. The Committees on Tax Exemptions are intimately connected to budget and finance committees, so it is a natural fit that he also be on it.
He is also a member of the Committee on Financial Institutions and Sporting Heritage, and the Joint Committee on Information Policy and Technology.
Senator Testin then promoted the Wisconsin Ethical Hunter Award which is taking nominations until January 31st. Testin took the time to stress the importance of including “being a good steward” to your hunting tradition. The Wisconsin Ethical Hunter Award focuses on single acts of ethical behavior. Examples are helping a stranger track down shot game, making choices that will help preserve Wisconsin lands for future generations, or help preserve animal populations for the future.
