Officials with the Green Lake Association last month announced the “Our Lake Our Legacy” campaign.
It’s a $15 million campaign to intervene on the health of the lake protecting it against further phosphorous loading, aquatic invasive species, and ensuring the capacity to protect it for future generations.
Stephanie Prellwitz is the Chief Executive Officer for the Association. She says they already got a jump on the fundraising with $12 million pledged or donated to the campaign. She says the studies they’ve already done and restoration projects were the result of earlier fundraising efforts.
She says an economic impact study will let them know how much the lake affects the lives of those in the area. There will be research and long-term monitoring of the lake, but a significant amount will be used toward phosphorous reduction.
Area residents can find out more at Green Lake Association.org.
The Association’s annual Lake Ball is also coming up on Saturday, August 2nd at the Heidel House Hotel and Conference Center.
