
RICHLAND CENTER, Wis (WRCO) – Lancaster held on for an 8-7 softball victory over Richland Center on Thursday night.
The game was 2-1 in favor of the Arrows until the 5th inning. Trailing 8-1, Richland Center plated 3 runs in the 5th and 6th innings to get within a run. Lancaster right fielder Kya Streif made 3 extra base hit robbing catches on the night including hauling in a two out fly ball off the bat of Ebony McCorkle with 2 runners in scoring position in the 6th inning. A hit would have given the Hornets their first lead of the game.
The Hornets were led at the plate by Carly Mieden who was 2 for 3 with a double and 3 runs scored, Chloe Carling was 2 for 3 with a walk and 2 runs scored, Maddy McGlynn was 2 for 3 with 2 rbi, Ebony McCorkle was 2 for 4 with an rbi, Kyree Fisher was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 walks. Fisher pitched 5 innings, struck out 5, walked 2, and gave up 10 hits. Chloe Darling worked the last 2 innings, struck out 2 and gave up one hit.Aleya Jackering was 3 for 4 with 2 rbi for Lancaster.
The Arrows Maddi Hill pitched 5 innings for the win, while Izzy Schmidt and Lily Edge both pitched in the final 2 innings trying to stop the Hornets.With the 8-7 win, the Arrows are 3-1 and 1-0 in the SWC. Richland Center is 1-3 and 0-1 in the league. They will host River Valley on Tuesday night.
